“FALSETTO” – what a dismissive and disrespectful term for what, in my estimation, is not only anything but false, but has the power to unlock the “truth” about your voice!

When I was performing professionally as a Classical Counter-tenor, falsetto was my jam! I lived there… maybe too much, to the exclusion of other aspects of my singing! BUT, I got over that, and can LOVE moving ALL AROUND the various aspects of my voice.

My experience is the opposite of most singers, tho… I started with falsetto as my primary mode then expanded to all the rest in my 20s and 30s. Most singers (I’m generalizing here, bear with me if you don’t fit the generalization) start from a more speech-related zone (modal voice, full voice, “chest voice”, etc.) and many over focus there and lose contact with or completely avoid their “falsetto” (there are also a few who go there, but don’t even know they’re doing it!).

So, in this series, falsetto is going to FRONT AND CENTER for two reasons/purposes:

1. To uncover the “truth” about falsetto – what is it really, how do you know and how can you begin to master it and all the possibilities that arise vocally when you’re clear about it.
2. To learn to use it to update, integrate and maybe even transform all of the other aspects of your voice indirectly (and sometimes more directly) through the use of “falsetto.”

Even if you think you totally understand both and have them down, there’s even more to this story that I’m SURE you’ve never heard about or gotten to!
